Quality Fall Back
Vudu has video quality fall back to make sure you can
experience
the best possible
video quality with your
home network
bandwidth.
Vudu has option
to allow
you to downgrade
video quality
for free if the home
network
suddenly
suffers from heavy network traffic.
(i.e. you can rent HDX quality
and can choose
to
stream at lower quality
such as HD or SD if network
bandwidth
drops to make sure the viewing experience
is as smooth as possible.)
Auto detection
and suggestion
If the
network
is suffering
heavy traffic,
and
the
buffering
(loading)
messages
have to
show up 4
times, the software would suggest that you to down-
load the quality
to ensure continuous
viewing. You
have option to keep on trying
the highest quality that
you have purchased.
It depends
on the quality
of purchased
movie, and
Vudu's
availability
to suggest
the
other
option
to
stream. (i.e. the movie was bought
as HDX and Vudu
has other HD and SD quality then both
lower quality
will be offered)

quality
(SD/HD/HDX),
and streaming
bit
rate
level
(represented
by quality
bars)
within the given quality
level).
Manually
switching
for movie quality
You may choose
to view at lower quality
of your
choice at beginning
due to past experience
or other
home device network demand.
The Movie Info will show option
to downgrade
quali-
ty based on: the purchased
quality
of the movie, and
the availability
of other quality from Vudu service. (i.e.
a HDX movie would commonly
see the offering of HD
and SD movie for "Switch Quality".)
You can chose any available quality to downgrade
free
of charge.
Select a desired movie
quality: HDX, HD, or SD.
