    iQsmart Scanners Installation and Maintenance Guide - Macintosh and PC Platforms About This Document This guide provides detailed instructions about how to install the iQsmart scanner properly, and maintain it in good operational condition. The procedures included in this guide are identical for iQsmart , iQsmart PC, and iQsmart scanners.

    Chapter 1 Site Preparation General Requirements This chapter describes the conditions that are necessary for proper iQsmart site preparation. Site Place the shipping package as close as possible to its final location. Before unpacking and installing the scanner, make sure the unpacking site is large enough to allow easy maneuvering.

The 1394 IEEE (FireWire) adaptor is located in the PC Add-on Installation kit. Important: Before starting the installation, make sure that the computer, the scanner, and all other devices are switched off.

Discharge any static electricity built-up before handling the FireWire adaptor by touching a grounded metal object (such as the exposed metal parts on the back of your computer).     Chapter 4 Powering On Powering on the Scanner This chapter explains how to power on your iQsmart scanner. To connect your scanner and power it ON: Locate the power cable in the installation kit. The power cable is a North American type that complies with US and Canadian requirements.

    Chapter 5 Software Installation Installation Procedure - Macintosh Computers The iQsmart software is provided on a CD located in the Installation kit package. Insert the CD into the CD-ROM drive, and double-click the oXYgen Software icon. The following window is displayed. See Appendix C, Documentation Folder for instructions on how to install and use the documentation located in the Documents folder.

    Stage 4: Prepare the Scanner Stage 4: Prepare the Scanner A message is displayed instructing you to clean the glass and place the calibration slide on the scanner. To prepare the scanner: Prepare the cleaning cloth and the calibration slide (in the Installation kit).

We recommend using clear domestic glass cleaning solution to clean all flat glass surfaces, as it leaves no trace after drying. The cleaning solution should not contain wax or ammonia. Be sure not to pour cleaning solution directly on the glass, as it might leak inside.

If this test fails, a message repeats the request to place the calibration slide correctly. Solution Follow the instructions in the screen, and click Proceed.

    Status Screen Status Screen While a utility program is running, you can view the progress of the process, by selecting the Show Status option from the Windows menu, on the Menu bar. After you select the Show Status option, the following window is displayed.

    Chapter 8 Utilities Fast Install (accessed via the Installation Program item) The Fast Install utility is used to copy the parameters from the scanner instead of creating them. To perform a Fast installation, do the following: Double-click Install&Utils. The Installation &Utilities screen is displayed.
