INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
SILVERSOUND – SAL 2200 hOmE ThEATRE LINE
The SILVERSOUND speaker family forms the ideal base for a dynamic home cinema, while it is also suitable for listening music in the
traditional stereo format. The front speakers are of a bass-reflex design to provide a richer bass sound.
The closed surround boxes can be fit on the wall, or even placed on bookshelves, due to their small dimensions. The speakers of the
center – and the rest of the boxes – are magnetically screened, which enables them to be placed right next to a traditional TV set.

AmPLIFIERS
Only use amplifiers of the right quality and output power. When increasing the volume of relatively low-power amplifiers a significant
distortion is added to the signal, which represents a very harmful load for the speakers' voice coils. This is especially true for end
amplifiers with integrated circuits. Naturally, amplifiers that are too powerful also cause distortion if you overdrive the speakers. The
characteristics of the distorted sinusoidal signal are different, tending towards a square signal (direct voltage). The overload will cause
the voice coil to warm up, and eventually burn down. The first sign of this process is often a strange smell coming from the speaker.
That is a typical sign of incorrect use.
If you intend to create a high-quality sound system it is recommended to switch off the amplifier's equalizer and bass boost circuit.
Using these is unnecessary as well as harmful. (They will only improve the sound profile of lower quality speakers.) A high-quality speaker
system will sound natural if you are not using the tone control circuits.
ThE SOURCE SIGNAL
The sound quality of compressed (MP3, WMA, AAC etc.) tracks is significantly worse than the traditional CD quality. Besides that,
they also create a greater load for the speakers, it is therefore recommended to take extra care with them. It is particularly not
recommended to use a computer as the signal source. The output signal level and impedance of sound cards generally do not meet
acoustic standards.
INSTALLATION
Make sure that the impedance and power parameters of the amplifier and the speakers are compatible. The maximum acoustic load of
the speakers should be at least 30-50% greater than the amplifier's acoustic output power per channel.
Paying special attention to the +/- polarity, connect the sound cables to the speakers and the amplifier. When doing so, make sure the
amplifier is unpowered. The sound cable's minimum recommended diameter is 2 x 1 mm
Before switching on for the first time make sure the complete system is wired correctly, polarities match, and the volume control is in
the minimum position. To protect the speakers from spikes, do not connect any cables (between the amplifier and the speakers or any
other component) while the amplifier is working. Never turn on the system with the volume at a high level. A noise spike that occurs
when the volume is set to a high level can immediately damage the speakers. Turn off the amplifier at the smallest suspicious sign
of trouble (e.g., strange smell or distorted sound). By doing so you can often prevent damage to the speakers. The guarantee does
not cover damage to the speakers from overload due to incorrect use. Please note that the output power indicated on the amplifier
always refers to the state when tone controls are switched off. If the bass or treble control is set to a high level the speaker's load in a
particular frequency range may increase several times. A distorted signal can significantly overload the speakers.

ImPORTANT NOTES
Because of their special design the speakers require special treatment.
For the system's reliable long-term operation you need to observe a few
rules of acoustic engineering.

SPEAkER
Every speaker must be "worn in" before regular use. In the first 30 to 50
hours only use the sound system at 50% load at most. During this period,
do not drive the speakers at volumes close to the maximum. The sound
quality intended by the manufacturer and the specified parameters will only
subwoofer
be achieved following the wear-in period.
