Note:
• For resistance > 1M , the meter may take a few seconds before stabilizing the reading.
• When the input is not connected, overrange will be displayed as 1.
• When checking in-circuit resistance, make sure to the circuit under test has all power removed and that all
capacitors have been fully discharged.
• At 200M range, subtract the digits from the measured result. Example: When measuring a 100M
resistance, the reading will be 101.0M . The correct result should be 101.0M - 1.0M = 100.0M .
BATTERY TESTING
1. Connect the black test lead to the COM jack and the red test lead to the V/ jack.
2. Set the rotary selector at the desired BAT range.
3. Connect the test leads with the battery poles.
TESTING TELEPHONE LINES
1. Connect the RJ11 test jack to the end of the telephone line.
2. Connect the other end of the line to an analogue telephone exchange.
3. Push the TEST button.
TESTING NETWORK CABLES
CAUTION: Do not use this function on circuits as this may damage the meter.
The network cable tester is suited for T168A, T568B, 10Base-T and Token Ring. The network cable tester will detect
a faulty condition in the ascending order before detecting other faulty conditions. The detection and indication of a
fault is handled on a one-per-test basis. Once the fault is corrected, it is recommended to test the cable again for
other faults.
OPEN
There is no OPEN indication. A typical cable may have 2, 3 or 4 pairs. Opens are displayed as an unlit
symbol. Determine if a pair is present and continuous or open by comparing the illuminated symbol with
the expected number of pairs.
SHO.
Indicates a short-circuit.
MIS.
Indicates miswire.
REV.
Reverse wiring.
SPL.
Split pairs or positive conductor and negative conductor of two twisted pairs are interchanged.
