To
copy
all the
files from
a directory
on
DISK I
to an
equivalent
directory within
the
Drawer
directory, you
wou ld type:
COPY DISKI:directory DHQI:Drawer ALL
The
ALL
keyword tells the
system to copy all
the fi
les
a nd subdirectories
in
t
he
directory.
Please refer to the
Enhancer manual
for
more information
on
using the
COPY
command. Before
copying any
software to
your
hard
dri
ve,
check
the documentation
packaged with
the program. It may
include
instructions
for installing
and using the
software on a
hard

4.
You may have to
set
up
some special
ASSIGN statements in
order
for you
r
software
to work correctly from the
hard drive.
The
ASS IGN
command
allows
you to assign
a
logical device name
to
a
directory.
In this
case
the device
is
DISK
I
,
and
the
directory
is
DH8 :Drawer.
Be
su
re to remove DISK I from the
floppy drive before
attempting
to run the
software from
the hard drive.
For example,
suppose you
copy
a
program
into the directory
DH8:Drawer, and when
you attempt to
run the software
a requester
appear~
saying:
Please insert Volume DISKlinto any drive
This indicates that the
software
is
looking for files
on
the original
disk (volume) on which it
was
distributed. By
assigning the volume
name to your new directory, the
software
will
be routed
to the
cor-
rect location. To do this,
open
a
eLI
/
Shell
window,
and type:
ASSIGN DISKI
:
DHe:Drawer
If the requester is
still
on the
screen,
click
on
RETRY.
If the
requester
does not reappear, the ASSIGN worked. You may want
to
add this
command
to the Workbench partition's
Startup
II file
(Workbench:s/
Startup
lI
)
so
that the assignment
is made when you
boot the
Amiga. For information
on
changing your
startup
~
seq
uence please rerer to the
chapter
C ha nging Your
