For a 2006 Toyota Avalon with 155,000 miles, you should change the transmission fluid if it hasn’t been done recently. At high mileage, the fluid may be dirty or degraded. Use the dipstick to check the fluid condition—if it’s brown or dirty, it should be changed.

A single drain and fill replaces only about 30–40% of the fluid. To replace most of the old fluid, repeat the drain and fill two or three times over a month. This can improve shifting and extend transmission life. Use the correct tools, such as a 10mm Allen wrench, and ensure the vehicle is safely lifted.
