Exposure to Radio Frequency Signal Your wireless handheld portable device is a low power radio transmitter and receiver. When ON, it receives and sends out Radio Frequency (RF) signals. In August, 1996, the Federal Communications Commissions (FCC) adopted RF exposure guidelines with safety levels for handheld wireless devices.

While these base stations operate at higher power than do the tablets themselves, the RF exposures that people get from these base stations are typically thousands of times lower than those they can get from tablets.
