Automatic transmission
P : park
R : reverse
N : neutral
D : automatic mode
M : manual mode: move selector
lever from D to the left.
< : manual mode upshifting
] : manual mode downshifting
The selector lever can only be moved
out of P when the ignition is on and
the brake pedal is applied. To engage
P or R, press the release button.

Starting off

Check before starting off
● Tyre pressure and condition
3 217, 3 249.
● Engine oil level and fluid levels
3 193.
● All windows, mirrors, exterior
lighting and number plates are
free from dirt, snow and ice and
are operational.
● Proper position of mirrors, seats
and seat belts 3 31, 3 49,
3 57.
● Soft top must be completely
opened or closed 3 37.
● Brake function at low speed,
particularly if the brakes are wet.
In brief
Starting the engine
● Turn key to position 1.
● Move the steering wheel slightly
to release the steering wheel
lock.
● Manual transmission: operate
clutch and brake pedal.
Automatic transmission: operate
brake pedal and move selector to
P or N.
● Do not operate accelerator pedal.
