CHASSIS OPERATIONS & PROCEDURES
POWER PLANT & DRIVE TRAIN
Full operating and service information may be obtained by consulting the engine and drive train
operating and service manuals provided by the chassis manufacturer. For maximum engine
efficiency and long service life, always follow recommendations, as outlined by the chassis
manufacturer. Regular visual inspections can help detect minor adjustments and needed
maintenance. All other components of the chassis should be inspected regularly per the
schedules set by the chassis manufacturer.

ENGINE COOLING SYSTEM

Ethylene glycol is a petroleum derivative which can ignite if exposed to high
temperature, such as occurs on an exhaust manifold. The possibility of ethylene glycol
igniting is increased if it is not diluted with water. It is important to properly dilute
antifreeze with the proper mixture of water. Make sure to discuss the coolant needs of
the motorhome with the chassis engine service representative.
The engine cooling system requires regular, periodic service to operate at maximum
efficiency. The condition of the engine coolant, hoses, and clamps should be checked
annually. Make sure to follow the cooling system recommendations as outlined in the
chassis engine owner's manual. If you notice, or suspect cooling system problems, make sure
it receives immediate attention. Proper and safe operation of the chassis engine cooling
system and other chassis functions depends on maintaining the vehicle per the instructions and
schedules published by the chassis and engine manufacturers.

ENGINE ACCESS

The engine fluid level checks which are located at the exterior rear of the motorhome, can be
accessed by lifting the top half of the engine grate. For service personnel, additional access
areas are located in the bedroom. The first location is in the wardrobe closet on the floor,
remove the four screws to remove the access panel. The second access panel is located on
the bedroom floor between the bed and the wardrobe closet. Remove the four mounting screws
to remove the access panel.
