Phone does not ring but I hear it on our fax machine. Set it to two rings so people can fax but still keeps ringing and ringing.

To set the AT&T 1872 phone to ring twice for faxes while ensuring it still rings for incoming calls, follow these steps:

1. Set the number of rings to 2:
- Press the appropriate buttons to access the setting for number of rings.

  • Page 2 I N S T A L L A T I O N Open battery compartment. Install 4 AA batteries. SETTING UP THE SYSTEM 1 Install the batteries. a Turn the unit upside down. b Lift the base off the phone by pushing in on the triangle at the center of the large end of the base.

Two-line jack — Use the 8-inch line cord, and plug into the jack labeled L1 OR L1/L2 on the bottom of the phone.
