CONGRATULATIONS!
You now own the finest pedal made. A Morley.
The PWF is designed for years of trouble free operation. To insure your
satisfaction, please take a bit of time to read this book and acquaint yourself with
some of the features that may be new to you. Above all, we hope you enjoy your
new Morley PWF as much as we enjoyed building it for you.
GENERAL INFORMATION
The Morley PWB is A.C. powered and photo-electric cell driven. There is no rack
and pinion gear nor is there a pot coupled to the pedal, as you might find in most
other pedals. The indicator light is the driving source for the PWF and must be on
for the unit to operate. Replace a damaged bulb using a factory replacement or a
#387 lamp as a substitute. A #327 may also be used in an emergency.
A NOTE TO GUITARISTS
The Wah in the Morley PWF has a response of seven octaves from 25 Hz to 4,000
Hz. This was designed to increase the flexibility to allow its use with keyboards
and bass guitar. Since the pedal range is far greater than the range the guitar is
capable of, the effect with the guitar is interesting. In the first ½" of travel, the Wah
peak is working in the two octaves below the last note on the guitar. The only
change the guitarist hears is in the volume of the guitar. This can be used
effectively in performance. Toe up to use it for rhythm, toe down ½" to play lead
and beyond ½" to play lead using the wah.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
1. Plug the PWF into the appropriate A.C. source.
2. Connect the instrument to the PWF by plugging one end of the shielded cable to
the instrument and plug the other end into the input labeled "INSTRUMENT" on
the Power Wah Fuzz.
3. Connect the amp to the PWF by plugging one end of a shielded cord into the
input of the amp, and the other end into the remaining PWF jack labeled
"AMPLIFIER".
4. Set the controls on your instrument, and your amplifier, to their usual settings.
AS AN EXPRESSION PEDAL (VOLUME ONLY)
1. Be sure that the switches marked "FUZZ" and "POWER WAH" are both in the
off positions.
2. In the up pedal position (toe up, heel down), there should be no sound. As the
rocker pedal is pressed down, the sound level increases in relation to the angle of
the pedal. The level increases as you press downward on the pedal.
AS A WAH PEDAL ONLY
1. To use the PWF as a Wah, press the footswitch marked "POWER WAH" on
the pedals right side.
2. Pressing the "POWER WAH" footswitch again returns the PWF to the volume
mode. Since a Wah uses a peak in the response to obtain the wah effect, there will
be differences in levels, depending on the position of the pedal at the time the
footswitch is pressed.
AS A FUZZ PEDAL ONLY
1. To use as a straight "Fuzz", press the switch on the left side of the PWF labeled
"FUZZ".
2. Adjust the "TONE" and "INTENSITY" controls to the desired levels. The
"INTENSITY" knob lets you adjust the level of the Fuzz to the level of the
instrument. You can set the Fuzz level to be louder or softer that the instrument by
careful setting of the "INTENSITY" control. A second knob marked "TONE"
controls the amount of "hardness" or "edge" the Fuzz produces. If feedback
occurs, the controls are set too high.
3. The pedal is a continuously variable mix control between the straight signal and
the Fuzz signal. With the heel of the pedal down, very mild fuzz is produced. As
the toe is pressed, the amount of Fuzz is increased.
FUZZ AND WAH COMBINED
1. By pressing the "POWER WAH" and "FUZZ" switches at the same time, the
PWF becomes a Wah pedal with Fuzz.
2. In the Fuzz/Wah mode, a great deal of bright upper harmonics are produced as
the high end emphasized by the peak in the wah. The controls may have to be
readjusted a bit if a feedback condition occurs with and instrument.
