Single cable HD Display Receiver with bidirectional IR,
routed serial control and PoH.
Part Number
RX-70-IR-POH
1
Connect an HDMI source (such as Blu-Ray, games console, satellite/
cable, media server etc.) to an HDBaseT transmission device (such as a
WyreStorm PoH Transmitter, AMP-001-010 Digital Amplifier or MX-PP-
POH matrix solution).
2
Connect a good quality, well-terminated Cat5e/6 cable of no more
than 70m/230ft in length between the UTP/HDBaseT output of the
transmission device to the UTP Input of the RX-70-IR-POH
70m/230ft is the maximum recommended transmission distance
!
for this classification of HDBaseT equipment and denotes perfect
transmission conditions - including straight cable runs with no
electrical interference, bends, kinks, patch panels or wall outlets.
If any of the above is a factor in your installation, transmission
range may be affected – take care to avoid where possible.
Connect the HDMI sink (LED/LCD/plasma display or digital projector) to
3
the HDMI Output of the RX-70-IR- POH
We strongly recommend using supplied mounting brackets to
!
secure the receiver to a flat surface behind/near the sink device.
Sudden movement of these devices could lead to loss of picture/
sound if connections become loose or strained, resulting in
unnecessary service call-backs.
NOTE: If daisy-chaining receivers, repeat process for all RX-70-
IR-POH units connected to HDBaseT transmission devices.
4
Power on all source, HDBaseT transmission and display devices - the
RX-70-IR-POH will be powered remotely if connected to a PoH-enabled
transmission device such as MX-PP-POH matrix or PoH transmitter, or
if an AMP-001-010 is used for PoH passthrough. In all instances local
power is not required at display points.
Illuminated LINK and POWER lights on the RX-70-IR-POH will indicate a
successful connection.
Optional 5v power available should power transmission issues
!
be encountered from transmitter location. Check cabling and
connections if power issues are experienced.
Signal IR/RS232 Control Connection
5
For two-way IR control of connected sources and displays from either
location, first, connect IR TX transmitters to the IR TX ports of the
HDBaseT transmitter device and RX-70-IR-POH.
6
Firmly attach the IR TX transmitter eye directly over the infrared receiving
sensors of the device to be controlled. Location of the transmitter
eye on the device may need to be adjusted later to achieve best IR
performance.
If unsure of positioning, IR sensors can be located on devices by
!
shining a flashlight onto the facia of the device - the IR sensor
should be identifiable as a small round sensor behind the panel.
Consult your device manufacturer handbook if difficulties are
experienced.
WyreStorm Quickstart Guide
Extending HDMI using Cat5e/6/7 to 70m/230ft
7
Insert IR receivers into IR RX ports of the RX-70-IR-POH and HDBaseT
transmission device
For serial control an IR Link cable should be used to connect from the
8
IR RX port of the HDBaseT transmission device and the control system.
For an RS232-based control system, insert RS232 cables into RS232
ports of devices to enable RS232 serial control.
At the display end, position the IR RX eye on or near the display device,
9
ensuring a clear line of sight to the remote handset used to control it.

NOTE: Although WyreStorm
products are tested with Cat5e, we
recommend Cat6 due to increased
bandwidth and improved capacity
for handling large transmissions and
power along a single cable.
Optional 5v power
available should power
transmission issues be
encountered from
