SAFETY CONSIDERATION

Installing and servicing heating equipment can be hazardous due
to oil and electrical components. Only trained and qualified
personnel should install, repair, or service heating equipment.
Untrained personnel can perform basic maintenance functions
such as maintaining water level. All other operations must be
performed by trained service personnel. When working on
heating equipment, observe precautions in literature, on tags, and
on labels attached to or shipped with unit and other safety
precautions that may apply. Recognize safety information. This is
the safety- -alert symbol . When you see this symbol on unit or in
instructions and manuals, be alert to potential for personal injury.
Understand
the
signal
words
CAUTION, and NOTE. These words are used with the
safety- -alert symbol. DANGER identifies the most serious
hazards which will result in severe personal injury or death.
WARNING signifies hazards which could result in personal
injury or death. CAUTION is used to identify unsafe practices
which may result in minor personal injury or product and
property damage. NOTE is used to highlight suggestions which
will result in enhanced installation, reliability, or operation.
NOTE: Installer—hang these instructions near boiler.

FIRE EXPLOSION HAZARD
Failure to follow this warning could result in personal
injury, death and or property damage.
Use only number 1 or number 2 fuel oil having
commercial standard grade CS 12- -48.
gasoline, kerosene, crankcase oil, or any oil containing
gasoline.

BEFORE STARTUP

1. Check fuel oil supply in storage tank.
2. Check that valve in oil supply pipe is open.
3. Check water level in boiler—manually open relief valve
until water flows out. If water does not flow promptly,
close relief valve and call for service.

4. Be sure all valves in waer pipes to radiation and expansion
tank are open, except valve in waer pipe from building
water system. Water pipe should be closed.

TO START BURNER

1. Set wall thermostat indicator above room temperature.
2. Turn boiler electric power disconnect switch on. Burner
should start.
3. If burner does not start, press red button on top of oil
burner and release slowly. Burner should then start.
4. If burner still does not start:
a. Recheck electric power supply to burner.
b. Recheck that thermostat is calling for heat.
c. Push the red button once more and repeat step 3.
5. If burner still does not start, turn off electric power and call
for service.

TO STOP BURNER

1. Turn off electric power at boiler disconnect switch.
2. For summer shutdown, close valve in oil supply pipe.
ANNUAL INSPECTION AND
ADJUSTMENT
Annual inspection of oil- -fired heating units is required.
Semi- -annual inspection of oil- -fired heating units is strongly
recommended.
This inspection should include the following:
1. Relubrication of burner motor bearings, if applicable.
2. Do not lubricate water circulator motor. The bearings are
lubricated by water after the circulator starts operating.
3. Replacement of oil filter cartridge.
4. Cleaning of oil burner blower wheel and air passages.
5. Examination for and repair of fuel oil leaks.
6. Examination of combustion chamber, oil nozzle, heat
transfer surfaces and vent connector to chimney.
7. Examination for and repair of water leaks.
8. Test of pressure relief valve operation.
9. Check for waterlogged expansion tank.
10. Combustion test and adjustment of oil burner operation.
11. Safety and operation test of all boiler controls.
