The California Safe Drinking Waterand Toxic
Enforcement Act requires the governorof
Califomia to publish a list of substancesknown
to the state to cause cancer,birth defects or other
reproductiveharm and requires businessesto warn
customers of potential exposureto such substances.
Gas appliances can cause minor exposure
to four of these substances,namely benzene,
carbon monoxide, formaldehydeand soot,
caused primarily by the incompletecombustion
of natural gas or LP fuels.
Properly adjusted dryers will minimizeincomplete
combustion. Exposure to these substancescan be
minimized further by properly venting the tiers
to the outdoors.
