There are three essentialrequirememsfor
efficienthomefreezing.First,of course. is
initial quality. Only lop-quality foods
should be frozen. Freezingre{ainsqu;di!y
and flavor:it cmrnotimprovequality.Sec-
ond is speed. The quicker fruits and veg-
etablesare frozenafter picking,the better
thefrozenproduclwillbe. You'llsuvetime,.
too,becauselesscullingand sortingwillbe
necessary.The third requirernen[is proper

TO FREEZE MEAT,
FISH AND POULTRY

ICE CREAM STORAGE ' -
Fine-quality ice cream. with high cream
con!ent.willnormallyrequire slightlylow-
er temperatures [hun more "'airy'" t dready-
packed brunds with low cream content. It
will be necessary 10experiment to deter-
mine the exact setling [o keep your kwwr-
ite ice cream at the right serving kxnpera-
ture. Also,the rear of [he !reezeris slightly
colder than the front.
ICE TRAYS
Invert and twist trays at both ends to re-
lease cubes (Fig. 8).
For only 1 or 2 cubes, leave the tray right
side up, twist ends slightlyand pluck out
cubes with ease.
Washtruysin lukewarmwater only. Don"t
place in automatic dishwasher.
NO DEFROSTING
You never have to defrost the freezer. It
has been preset ut the factory to defrost
itself,automatically,
FOOD STORAGE
Unfrozen Meats,
Fish and
Poultry
Meats,fishand poultrypurchasedfrom the
storevaryinqualityand ~ge;consequently,
sale slorage time in your refrigerator will
vary.Alwaysremovestore wrapping from
meats, fish and poultry.
Rewrap
in foil,film
or ~vax paper and refrigerate immediately.
Cheese
Cheese should be well wrapped with wax
paper, aluminumfoilor placed in a plastic
bag. Carefully wrap to expil air anfl pre-
venl mold.Packaged cheese can be stored
in its own wrapping.
Vegetables
Rack al ~ottom of refrigerator has been
designed for storage of fruits, vegetables
mrd bulky items. Crispness can be main-
tained by covering vegetableswitb a moist
towel.
As a further aid 10 freshness, it is
suggestedthat pre-packagedvegetablesbe
stored in theirorigioalwmppirrg.
CLEANING
Inside–Clean both refrigerator mrd freez-
er sections at Ieast once a year. It is rec-
ommended that the refrigerator be un-
pluggedbefore cleaning.If tbis is not prac-
tical,wring excess moisture out of sponge
or cloth when cleaning in the vicinity of
switches, lights,or controls.
Use warm water and baking soda solution
—abouta tablespoon of haking soda to a
quart of water. Rinse thoroughly with
water and wipe dry. Follow,this stime pro-
cedure for cIeaning door gasket mrd all
plastic parts. Wash ice trays in lukewarm
water only.
Outside–To clean and protect the finish,
use liquidpolishor waxsuitable for use
on
appliances.Neveruse oily furniture poiisb,
cleaningpowders, or alksdinesoaps.
