Emission Control System Warranty

Your new Honda outboard engine complies with both the
U.S. EPA and State of California emission regulations.
American Honda provides the same emission warranty
coverage for outboard engines sold in all 50 states. In all
areas of the United States your outboard engine must be
designed, built, and equipped to meet the U.S. EPA and
California Air Resources Board emission standard for
spark ignited marine engines.

WARRANTY STATEMENT
YOUR WARRANTY RIGHTS AND
OBLIGATIONS
The California Air Resources Board (CARB) and
American Honda Motor Co., Inc. are pleased to explain
the emission control system warranty on your 2013-2014
Honda outboard engine. In California, new outboard
engines must be designed, built, and equipped to meet the
state's stringent anti-smog standards.
American Honda Motor Co., Inc. must warrant the
emission control system on your outboard engine for the
periods of time listed below provided there has been no
CONSUMER INFORMATION
abuse, neglect, or improper maintenance of your outboard
engine.
Your emission control system may include parts such as
the carburetor or fuel injection system, the ignition
system, and catalytic converter. Also included may be
hoses, belts, connectors, and other emission-related
assemblies.
Where a warrantable condition exists, American Honda
Motor Co., Inc. will repair your outboard engine at no cost
to you including diagnosis, parts, and labor.
MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY
COVERAGE:
Select emission control parts from model year 2010 and
later outboard engines are warranted for five years or 250
hours of use, whichever first occurs; or the length of the
Honda Marine Distributor's Limited Warranty, whichever
is longer. However, warranty coverage based on the
hourly period is only permitted for engines equipped with
hour meters as defined in § 2441 (a)(13)* or their
equivalent. If any emission-related part on your engine is
defective under warranty, the part will be repaired or
replaced by American Honda Motor Co., Inc.
