PERFORMED BY A QUALIFIED
INSTALLER, SERVICE AGENCY OR THE
GAS SUPPLIER.
This is an unvented gas fired heater. It uses air (oxygen) from the room in which it is installed. Provisions
for adequate combustion and ventilation air must be provided. See Pg. 4 & 5.
This unit is not approved for installation in greenhouses,or environments involving dusty, wet,
corrosive, or explosive conditions. Such conditions will invalidate the warranty and may create
unsafe conditions.
This appliance may be installed in an aftermarket, permanently located, manufactured (mobile) home,
where not prohibited by local codes. This appliance is only for use with the type of gas indicated on the
rating plate. This appliance is not convertible for use with other gases.

    SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS - CONTINUED Installation and repair should be done by a qualified service person. The heater should be inspected before use and at least annually by a professional service person. More frequent cleaning may be required due to excessive lint from carpeting, bedding, material, etc.

    FRESH AIR FOR COMBUSTION, VENTILATION AND HEAT DISTRIBUTION - CONT’D. STEP 4. Compare the total Btu the area can support (from Step 2) to the total Btu in the area the heater will be installed (from Step 3). If the total from Step 2 is larger this is considered an unconfined space, if Btu total from Step 3 is larger this is considered a confined space and provisions must be made for additional combustion and ventilation air.

    Protect heater from wind, high traffic areas, and drafts (such as doorways, locations that get direct air from a ceiling fan, etc.) as this will cause nuisance pilot outage. All models may be wall mounted. Model No. VFM10, VFT10, VFM20, VFT20, VFM30 & VFT30 may be free standing by adding optional VF-FSK floor stand kit.

    INSTALLING HEATER WALL MOUNT (VFM6, VFM10, VFT10) STEP 1. Remove wall mounting bracket from back of heater. STEP 2. Locate wall stud. STEP 3. Attach wall mounting bracket to wall stud with top at desired height, using (2) screws provided. Make sure top of bracket is level.

    STEP 1. Make the gas connection between the manual shut off valve and regulator located inside heater cabinet. Hold regulator when tightening connection to prevent damage to regulator and internal tubing. See Figure 5 for completed installation. NOTE: All piping and connection must be checked for leaks by the installer. If connections are not exposed, a pressure test must be run.

    PROPER OPERATION ODS / PILOT FLAME The pilot pressure has been pre-set at the factory and with proper supply pressure will provide a safe, reliable ignition source. See Figure 6. INCORRECT - INCORRECT - OXYGEN CORRECT LOW PRESSURE LEVEL DROPPING BURNER FLAME All orificing and pressure setting was done at the factory and, with proper supply pressure, will provide a safe, efficient source of heat.

    The entire heater should be checked and cleaned by a qualified service person before the start of each heating season. More frequent cleaning may be required due to excessive lint conditions from carpeting, bedding material, etc. To clean the cabinet and hearth and jamb assemblies of your heater, turn off and allow to cool, then wipe with a soft damp cloth.

    INSTALLING THE VFB BLOWER STEP 1. Remove blower assembly from shipping carton. STEP 2. Insert blower assembly into upper back of heater (See Figure 8). STEP 3. Secure blower to heater using three #8 screws (provided) through holes pre-punched in heater back. STEP 4.
