Two Servers Connected to a Single 12 Gb 4-Port SAS Storage Controller

A storage system with four 12 Gb front-end SAS ports on a single storage controller can connect up to
two host servers, if each host server has two SAS HBAs.
About this task
This configuration includes four fault domains and the storage controller is connected to each host
server using two SAS connections.
NOTE: This configuration is vulnerable to storage controller unavailability, which results in a loss of
connectivity between the host servers and the storage system.
Steps
1.
Connect fault domain 1 to host server 1 by connecting a SAS cable from storage controller 1: port 1
to host server 1.
2.
Connect fault domain 2 to host server 1 by connecting a SAS cable from storage controller 1: port 2
to host server 1.
3.
Connect fault domain 3 to host server 2 by connecting a SAS cable from storage controller 1: port 3
to host server 2.
4.
Connect fault domain 4 to host server 2 by connecting a SAS cable from storage controller 1: port 4
to host server 2.
