2 Marking for coolant level
Checking Coolant Level
The coolant reservoir with filler
neck is arranged away from the
radiator. To check the coolant level
the vehicle must be parked on level
ground.
The coolant level must reach:
the mark indicated on the reser-
voir when the coolant is cold
approximately 2 cm (0.8 in)
higher when the coolant is hot.
Adding Coolant
If coolant has to be added, a 50/50
mixture of water and MB anticorro-
sion/antifreeze should be used.
Warning!
Use extreme caution when
opening the hood, if there
are any signs of steam or
coolant leaking from the
cooling system.
Do not remove pressure cap
on coolant reservoir if engine
temperature is above 90°C
(194 oF). Allow engine to cool
down before removing cap.
The coolant reservoir con-
tains hot fluid and is under
pressure.
Using a rag, turn cap to first
notch to relieve excess pres-
sure. If opened immediately,
hot scalding fluid and steam
will be blown out under pres-
sure.
The drain plugs are located on the
right and left side of the engine and
on the radiator bottom.
