    RF Manager supports the following models of RF Security Sensor. MSM415 Sensor The MSM415 RF Security Sensor is a single-11n radio security sensor that continuously scans the 2.4 and 5GHz bands to detect and counter-attack security threats for 802.11a/b/g/n wireless devices and APs.

  • Page 13 Hardware Installation Installing the RF Manager Rack Mounting the RF Manager The RF Manager is designed to be mounted in any EIA-standard 19-inch telco rack or communication equipment cabinet. Equipment The 12-24 screws supplied with the RF Manager are the correct threading for standard EIA/TIA open 19-inch racks.

    MSM415 RF Security Sensor Hardware Reset Button The Reset button is accessible via a hole on the bottom of the MSM415 as identified below. To perform a reset, the unit must be powered. Insert a paper clip under the cable and into the reset button hole at the precise angle shown.
  • Page 17: Installing Rf Security Sensors

    Plenum installation: The MSM415 and appropriate cabling can be installed in a plenum (UL2043 rating). The MSM415 should be installed with its top surface facing the floor (similar orientation as in a ceiling installation). However, it is left to a qualified installer to determine how to install/secure the MSM415 in a plenum in an appropriate and safe manner.

    MSM415. Mounting The MSM415 can be mounted on a wall or a suspended ceiling. In either case, the first step is to mount the bracket, and the second step is to attach the MSM415 to the bracket. Mounting on a Wall-mounted Electrical Box 1. Disconnect power and take any other needed security precautions.

    1. Connect the Ethernet cable to the MSM415 Ethernet port. Push excess cable back into the hole. 2. Position the MSM415 against the bracket so that the bracket tabs fit into the tab slots on the back of the MSM415. Push the MSM415 against the bracket and then pull down firmly so that it snaps onto the bracket.

    Getting Started Introduction These procedures describe how to initially set up the RF Manager and MSM415 Sensor. After preforming the procedures outlined here, see the HP ProCurve RF Manager and Sensors Management and Configuration Guide. License Key File Note The HP ProCurve RF Manager Controller is activated by a license key. You obtain the license key by registering the product on the MyProcurve portal.

You will see a list of all Sensors that are recognized by the Server. The Sensor is configured and ready to go. Check the Console to ensure that this Sensor has been detected.
  • Page 27 Getting Started Manually Configuring the Sensor (Optional) Invoke HyperTerminal (or minicom) To configure the Sensor, follow the steps described below to invoke the Config Shell. Launching HyperTerminal To start HyperTerminal, click Start > Programs > Accessories > Communications > HyperTerminal as shown in the following figure. Note If you are using a Linux laptop, you can use minicom to connect to the Config Shell.

See Sensor Configuration in the HP ProCurve RF Manager and Sensors Management and Configuration Guide for more details.
