2. Installation

Ensure the FortiGate unit is placed on a stable surface prior to desk or rack-mount
installation.
Desktop Installation:
1 Using the supplied AC power cable, plug the cable into the rear of the switch
and into a wall outlet.
2 Ensure the unit has adequate ventilation (minimum 15cm/6in) on all sides.
3 Do not place heavy objects on the switch.
Rack-Mount Installation:
1 Using the supplied hardware, attach the rack-mount brackets to each side of the
switch.
2 Place the switch into your equipment rack and secure the rack-mount brackets
using the supplied hardware.
3 If using a DC power source for backup power, connect the power connector to
the DC power jack on the rear of the unit.
4 Using the supplied AC power cable, plug the cable into the rear of the switch and
into a wall outlet.
