TROUBLESHOOTING

POSSIBLE CAUSE
Faulty pressure gauge
Insufficient water supply
Old, worn or incorrect spray nozzle
Belt slippage
Plumbing or hose leak
Faulty or misadjusted unloader valve
(Where applicable)
Worn packing in pump
Fouled or dirty inlet or discharge valves
in pump
Worn inlet or discharge valves
Low power supply
Detergent metering valve left open suck-
ing air, or faulty metering valve
Little or no fuel
Improper fuel or water in fuel
Plugged fuel filter
Misadjusted burner air bands
Little or no fuel pressure from fuel
pump
Faulty burner transformer
Disconnected or short in electrical wir-
ing
Burner motor thermal protector tripped
Flex-coupling slipping on fuel pump shaft
or burner motor shaft
On-Off switch defective
Heavy sooting on coil and burner, can
cause interruption of air flow and shorting
of electrodes
Improper electrode setting
Fuel not reaching combustion chamber
Clogged burner nozzle
Water not flowing through unloader
Flow switch malfunction
Fuel solenoid malfunction

SOLUTION
Test with 2nd gauge. If bad install new gauge.
Use larger garden hose; clean water filter at inlet. Clean
screen inside float tank.
Match nozzle number to machine and/or replace with
new nozzle.
Tighten or replace; use correct belt.
Check plumbing system for leaks. Retape leaks with
teflon tape.
Adjust unloader for proper pressure. Install repair kit
when needed. Test PSI with unloader removed, taking
pressure directly off the pump.
Install new packing kit.
Clean inlet and discharge valves.
Replace with valve kit.
Check voltage of building and compare with require-
ments. Obtain a different power source.
Close and/or replace metering valve.
Fill tank with fuel.
Drain fuel tank and fill with proper fuel.
Replace as needed.
Readjust air bands for clean burn.
Increase fuel pressure to specification on fuel pump
and/or replace fuel pump.
Test transformer for proper arc between contacts. Re-
place as needed.
All wire contacts should be clean and tight. No breaks
in wire.
If tripped, check voltage, connections, and extensions
for cause. Check fuel pump shaft rotation for binding
causing motor to overheat.
Replace if needed.
Check continuity through burner switch.
Clean as required.
Clean and set according to diagram in Operators
Manual.
Check fuel pump for proper flow. Check solenoid flow
switch on units with spray gun control, for proper on-off
fuel flow control.
Replace.
Open spray gun to allow water to flow.
Remove test for continuity and replace as needed.
Replace if needed.
