Extended Vehicle Storage
If you plan to store your Chevrolet
over an extended period of time, cer-
tain steps should be taken to give it
maximum protection.
It
is recom-
mended that you write Chevrolet
Motor Division, General Motors Cor-
poration, Owner Relations Depart-
ment, Detroit, Michigan 48202, for
detailed instruction on how to prepare
your Chevrolet for storage.
Trailer Hauling
Since passenger cars are designed and
intended to be used primarily as pas-
senger conveyances, towing a trailer
may affect handling,·· durability and
economy. Maximum satisfaction and
pleasure will be derived through use
of proper equipment and avoiding
overloads and other abusive operation.
Your Chevrolet should be driven a
minimum of 500 miles before hauling
a trailer of less than 2000 lbs. gross
weight and at least 1000 miles if· the
trailer exceeds 2000· 100. gross. weight.
Chevrolet has a number of factory-
installed options available to better
equip cars for pulling trailers over
1,000 lbs. and makes light-duty trailer
hitches available through dealers. For
hauling trailers heavier than 2,000
65
pounds,
it
is . recommended that· an
appropriate load equalizing, frame
mounted hitch be purchased from a
reliable manufacturer. Purchase of
bumper and axle type hitches is
not recommended. Generally, trailer
tongue loads should be maintained at
approximately 10% of loaded trailer
weight by proper distribution of the
load in the trailer. Tire inflation
recommendations
outlined
in
this
Owner's Manual should be followed.
General information on trailer haul-
ing; special equipment required; and
optional equipment is available in
booklet form and can be obtained from
your authorized Chevrolet dealer.
