    Disconnect all cords and cables from the printer before moving it. • Lift the printer off the optional drawer, and set it aside instead of trying to lift the drawer and printer at the same time. Note: Use the handholds located on both sides of the printer to lift it off the optional drawer.

You must use either a printer stand or printer base if you are using a high-capacity input tray, a duplex unit and an input option, or more than one input option. Installing an Internal Solutions Port The system board supports one optional Lexmark Internal Solutions Port (ISP). Install an ISP for additional connectivity options. Note: This task requires a #2 Phillips screwdriver and a flathead screwdriver.

Note: If an optional printer hard disk is currently installed, then the printer hard disk must first be removed. To remove the hard disk: Unplug the printer hard disk interface cable from the system board, leaving the cable attached to the printer hard disk.

Do not tighten the thumbscrew at this time. Attach the two provided screws to secure the ISP mounting bracket to the system board cage.

Note: This task requires a #2 Phillips screwdriver and a flathead screwdriver. CAUTION—SHOCK HAZARD: If you are accessing the system board or installing optional hardware or memory devices sometime after setting up the printer, then turn the printer off, and unplug the power cord from the wall outlet before continuing.

    Configuring Universal paper settings The Universal Paper Size is a user‑defined setting that lets you print on paper sizes that are not preset in the printer menus. Set the Paper Size for the specified tray to Universal when the size you want is not available from the Paper Size menu.

    Do not remove the paper tray while the printer is printing. • Do not load the paper tray while the printer is printing. Load it prior to printing, or wait for a prompt to load it. • Do not load too much paper. Make sure the stack height does not exceed the indicated maximum height.

Using recycled paper and other office papers As an environmentally conscious company, Lexmark supports the use of recycled office paper produced specifically for use in laser (electrophotographic) printers. In 1998, Lexmark presented to the US government a study demonstrating that recycled paper produced by major mills in the US fed as well as non-recycled paper.
