To exit from this menu at any time to
standby mode, press and hold 01
twice . Alternatively : Press 0
(Options), choose Exit, and press
Q~) (OK) .
Write the message using predictive
or traditional text input (see
"Writing text" on page 9) . The
number of available characters and
the current part number are shown
on the top right of the display.
When the message is complete,
press ~ (Options), select Send,
key in the recipient's phone
number, and press ~ (OK) .
If you want to send the message to
several persons, select Send to
many, scroll to the first recipient,
and press Q-
= ) (Send) . Repeat this
for each recipient.

The other options are: Template,
Insert smiley, Dictionary (sets
predictive input on or off), Send by
set (see page 16), Save, Erase, Exit.
When you are using predictive text
input, the options described in
"Predictive text input" on page 9
are also available .

When you receive a text message in
standby mode, you hear a message
alert tone, and the text messages
received as well as '--

are shown.
Press ~-=) (Read) to view the
messages right away . To view the
messages later, press © and
enter the Inboxmenu (Menu 2-2)
when you want to do so .
Scroll to the desired message and
press 0(Read) .
Use CO or O to browse through
the message.
While reading the message, you
can press ~(Options) for the
following : Erase, Reply, Chat, Edit,
Usenumber, Forward, Details.
Chatallows you to have a
conversation based on text messages
with another party. See also page 17 .

Viewing a message you have
saved Menu 2-3)
You can view the messages that you
have saved in Write messages (Menu
2-1) . Pressing ~-=) (Options) allows
access to the same functions as in
Inbox(Menu 2-2), except for Reply,
Chat, and Details.
Picture messages (Menu 2-4)
You can receive and send text
messages which contain pictures
(network service) .
Note that :
Each picture message is made up
of several text messages .
Therefore, sending-one picture
message may cost more than one
text message.
Since picture messages are saved
in the phone, you cannot view
them if you use the SIM card with
another phone.
Only phones that offer the Picture
message feature can receive and
display picture messages .

Menu functions
When you receive a picture message
To view the message immediately,
press ~-=) (View) . You can save the
message by pressing <:Ei~) (Save) or
delete it by pressing © twice .
To view the message later in this
menu : Press ©and then ~(OK)
to save the message.
Sending a picture message
Within this menu, scroll to a picture
message and press Q-
= ) (View) . Press
(Options) and select Edit text.
Write the message. To view the whole
message, press 0(Options) and
select Preview. To send the message,
press ~(Options) and select Send.
Templates (Menu 2-5)
You can view, edit, and erase the
preset messages ('templates') that
you can use for writing a message.
Scroll to the desired template and
press QEi) (Read) . To edit or erase the
template, press `~ (Options) and
select the desired function .
