Connections
When HDMI is not connected or the "Audio Mute" is selected in "HDMI Audio Out" setting, the audio
signals output from DIGITAL OUT changes depending on the "Digital Out" setting. Refer to the
following table.
To set "Digital Out", press [SETUP], then select "Quick"" "HDMI Audio Out" .. "Audio Mute" or
"Custom" .. "Audio" .. "HDMI Audio Out" .. "Audio Mute".

• In orderto output PCM signal from DIGITAL OUT jack while outputting the HDMI audio signal,
set "SO Audio Mode" toHMix AuqioOutput" and set "HOM} Audio Out" to "HDMI Multj(LPCM)".
• This table applies only when HDMI is not connected or the "Audio Mute" is selected in "HDMI Audio
Out" setting.
• If "BD Audio Mode" is set to "HD Audio Output" or the BD title does not have secondary or
interactive audio, the audio will be output as shown in the table.
• If the "BD Audio Mode" is set to "Mix Audio Output" and the BD title has secondary or interactive
audio, the audio will be output as follows:
*1 Only the independent substream is decoded.
*2 Only the Dolby Digital substream is decoded.
*3 Only the core substream is decoded.

Copyright protection system
To play back the digital video images of a BD/DVD via an HDMI connection, it is necessary that both
the unit and the display device (or an AV amplifier) support a copyright protection system called
HDCP (high-bandwidth digital content protection system). HDCP is copy protection technology that
comprises data encryption and authentication ofthe connected AV device. This unit supports HDCP.
Please read the owner's manual of your display device (or AV amplifier) for more information.
Connections
• If "BD Audio Mode" is set to "HD Audio Output" or the BD title does not have secondary or
interactive audio, the audio will be output as shown in the table.
• If the "BD Audio Mode" is set to "Mix Audio Output" and the BD title has secondary or interactive
audio, the audio will be output as follows:
*1 Dolby Digital or Multi PCM (Only the independent substream is decoded.)
*2 Dolby Digital or Multi PCM (Only the Dolby Digital substream is decoded.)
*3 DTS or Multi PCM (Only the core substream is decoded.)
*4 As shown in the table (Only the independent substream is decoded.)
*5 As shown in the table (Only the Dolby Digital substream is decoded.)
*6 As shown in the table (Only the core substream is decoded.)
• If the connected device is not compatible with the HDMI BITSTREAM, audio will be output as Multi
PCM or 2ch Downmix PCM depending on the capability of the connected device, even if you select
"HDMI Multi(Normal)" in"HDMI Audio Out" setting. Refer to page 32.

• Audio signals output from DIGITAL OUT (COAXIAL)
When both HDMI and DIGITAL OUT is connected to other devices, the audio signals currently output
from the HDMI OUT will be output from the DIGITAL OUT jack as well, except that HDMI 2ch signal
will be output from HDMI OUT jack, when connected device does not support Dolby Digital and DTS.
