Image Size

Image size is measured in pixels.

Place the cursor in the information display.
If shooting information is not displayed in the monitor, press the R button.
Press the P button to place the cursor in the information display.

Display image size options.
Highlight the current image size in the
information display and press J.

Choose an image size.
Highlight one of the following options and press
J.

File Names
Photographs are stored as image files with names consisting of a three-letter identifier
("DSC" for photos, "SSC" for copies created with the small picture option in the retouch
menu, "ASC" for stop-motion movies, and "CSC" for copies created with other retouch
options) followed by "_nnnn.xxx, " where nnnn is a four-digit number between 0001 and
9999 assigned automatically in ascending order by the camera, and xxx is one of the
following three letter extensions: "NEF" for NEF images, "JPG" for JPEG images, or "AVI" for
stop-motion movies. The NEF and JPEG files recorded at a setting of NEF (RAW) + JPEG
basic have the same file names but different extensions.
