Fuel consumption
Optional equipment (e.g. wide tyres, air
conditioning system, towing equipment)
increases the kerb weight and in some
cases also the permissible gross vehicle
weight. This in turn increases fuel
consumption and reduces the maximum
speed of the vehicle.
When the vehicle is new, there is increased
friction between the engine and
transmission components lasting for
several thousand miles. This increases fuel
consumption.

Fuel for petrol engines
Commercially available high-quality fuel
with a maximum ethanol content of 5 % as
per DIN EN 228 (catalytic converter - see
page 102, octane numbers - see
page 163). Fuel quality has a decisive
influence on power output, running
behaviour and service life of the engine.
The additives contained in the fuel play an
important role in this regard. You should
therefore only use high-quality fuels
containing additives.
Fuels with ethanol content greater than 5 %
do not comply with DIN EN 228 and must
not be used unless the vehicle has been
specifically developed and approved for
use of such.
Fuel with too low an octane number can
cause pinking. Vauxhall cannot be held
liable for resulting damage.
Petrol with a higher octane number can
always be used.
Pump nozzles for leaded fuel cannot be
inserted into the filler neck of vehicles that
operate on unleaded fuel.
The ignition timing is automatically
adjusted according to the grade of fuel
used (octane number) – see page 163.
Use of petrol with an octane rating of 95
will ensure economical driving.
