Some screens allow you to use the keypad to enter
text, such as when you compose a message.

set entry modes

Multiple text entry modes make it easy for you to enter
names, numbers, and messages:
entry mode
Primary or Enter text using a method that you set.
Secondary
Number Enter numbers only (see page 37).
Symbol Enter symbols only (see page 37).

To assign a Primary or Secondary text entry mode:
1 In a text entry screen, press
2 Scroll to Entry Setup and press
3 Scroll to Primary Setup or Secondary Setup and press
4 Scroll to one of the following choices and

iTAP™ Let the phone predict each word as you
press keys.
TAP Enter letters and numbers by pressing
a key one or more times.
Tap Extended Enter letters, numbers, and symbols by
pressing a key one or more times.
