BATTERY REMOVAL OR INSTALLATION

WARNING
Battery posts,
accessories contain lead and lead compounds.
Wash Hands after handling.
When removing the battery, disconnect the
battery cables in the following order to avoid
arcing and the resulting sparks:
Battery Removal:
1. Disconnect the Negative cable.
2. Disconnect the Positive cable.
Battery Installation:
1. Connect the Positive cable.
2. Connect the Negative cable.
To replace the battery, proceed as follows:
1. Remove the negative cable from the negative
terminal of the battery, then remove the positive
cable from the positive terminal.
2. Remove the wing nut securing the mounting rod to
the bulkhead mounting bracket (Refer to Figure
26) and pull the rod downward from the bulkhead
bracket.

3. Rotate the mounting rod fully upward toward the
dash panel to provide clearance for battery
removal (See Figure 27).
4. Pull downward on the bottom of the battery
holddown strap to release it from the tab beneath
the battery tray.

5. Lift the battery upward and remove from the left
side of the tractor.

6. Install the new battery from the left side of the
tractor and lower into the battery tray.
7. Stretch the battery holddown strap downward
across the front of the battery and hook to the tab
below the battery tray.
8. Rotate the mounting rod downward and insert
through the bottom of the hole in the bulkhead
mounting bracket (See Figure 26).
9. Install the wing nut onto the mounting rod, but do
not tighten until after the side panels are installed.
10. Connect the positive cable to the positive terminal
of the battery, then connect the negative cable to
the negative terminal.
JUMP STARTING
Failure to use this jump starting procedure
could cause sparking, which could result in an
explosion of either battery.
1. Attach the first jumper cable from the positive
terminal of the good battery to the positive terminal
of the dead battery.
2. Attach the second jumper cable from the negative
terminal of the good battery to the FRAME OF THE
UNIT WITH THE DEAD BATTERY.
