Chapter 4

Configuring Your Server

Configuration and setup utilities are used to change your system configuration. You can configure your system, as well
as option boards you may add to your system, using the BIOS Setup utility. Several unique system parameters are
configured using the BIOS Setup utility, which is stored in the system FLASH memory.
The Array Configuration Utility (ACU) controls the serial ATA hard disk drives as a RAID drive. Use this utility if you
need to configure the RAID drive with the serial ATA hard disk drives or to perform a RAID disk format or verify disk
operation on the serial ATA disk drives. The Array Configuration Utility is used only for the serial ATA hard disk drives
that are connected with the serial ATA channel on your server board.
If your system has been factory configured, the BIOS Setup utility or Array Configuration Utility do not need to be run
unless you want to change the password or security features, add certain types of option boards or devices, or upgrade
your motherboard.
This chapter also provides information on several system configuration parameters that are set by jumpers on the
motherboard. However, these parameters do not usually require any changes.
Use the EXPRESSBUILDER CD-ROM to create the device driver diskettes.
