ONFIGURING
This chapter explains the steps required to get started using your Cuda
12000 IP Access Switch. The 10/100 CRAFT management interface must be
configured with a valid IP address appropriate to your network environment.
This chapter also addresses security considerations, such as: default system
accounts and unauthorized access to your network.
This section describes how to log on to the Linux environment, and how to
configure the Cuda 12000 CRAFT management interface to provide IP
network access. Configuration procedures specific to network management
are detailed in the Cuda 12000 IP Access Switch CudaView Administration
Guide and the Cuda 12000 IP Access Switch CLI-based Administration
Guide.
Use the following procedure to log on to the Linux environment as the root
operating system user:
1. Ensure that you have cabled a system running a terminal emulation
program to COM port 1.
2. Access the system through the terminal emulator. Press Enter until you
see the Linux logon prompt.
3. You will be prompted for a logon name and password to log on to the
Linux operating system. Enter your logon name and password using
lowercase characters. The system ships with the following system
defaults:
Account Name: administrator
Password: bas
