Inserting characters
Characters are entered by pressing
the digit keys. In the same way as
on mobile telephones, different
characters are inserted by
repeatedly pressing the same key
until the wanted character is
displayed.
You can only enter up to 12
characters; if you have entered 12
characters, when you press a digit
key the phone beeps and the entry
is ignored.
The # (hash) key toggles the case
of the letters between upper and
lower case (default is lower case).
There are three ways that you can select a character:
• If you don't press a digit key within 1 second, the currently selected
character is inserted and the insertion position moves to the next
position in the text string.
• If you press a different digit key, the currently selected character is
inserted and the insertion position moves to the next position in the
text string and displays the appropriate character for that digit key
(and starts a new 1 second timer).
• If you press OK (to save the label text) the currently selected
character is saved as part of the text string and CHANGE HAS BEEN
STORED is displayed.
