V. USING NOKIA EDUCATION DELIVERY (NED)
A. Nokia Education Delivery (NED)
Using a mobile phone, teachers and trainers can access and download
videos from a constantly updated catalog over a mobile network.
The Nokia device with TV-out connector can be connected to a normal
TV or a video projector to play the videos to a class.
Text2Teach package given to you, the mobile device is the Nokia N86
8MP.
The NED-based platform has replaced the original satellite based
delivery in the Text2Teach program. SMS is not used for lesson
ordering but very useful for any technical or lessons-related support
assistance.
The first batch of schools that started to use the NED-based platform
was in Tanzania in 2008. Deployment in the Philippines started in
March 2009. There is a similar program in its start-up phase in Chile.
The Nokia Education Delivery or NED application
uses mobile technology to deliver educational
videos to remote, hard-to-reach areas.
The videos can be used for any educational
purpose, from school lessons to training sessions.
