JACKING
CAUTION
To
help avoid personal injury:

jacking

stowage
instructions.
Use
jack
only
for
lifting
this
venicle

wheel
change.
Never get beneath
the vehiCle,
start or run
engine

supported
by
jack.

securely
restow spare

Wheel Nut Torque
CAUTION:
As
soon as
possible after Installing

7 of this manual. Wheel nuts should be tightened alternately and evenly to the
correct torque. Never

Stowage of Tire and Jack
CAUTION: ·AlwaYs MOurely restow the spare tire assembty (or flat
tire).

When driving the car with the
compact spare installed and the reer seat folded
down,
stow the wheel cover flat
on the rear floor behind the-right front
seat.
When the rear seat is up (or If It does
not
fold),
stow the wheel cover in the trunk area. This will help keep such things from
being thrown about and injuring peopla In the car in an accident.
Compact Spare
The
compact
spare is
designed to
save
space
in
your
trunk, and
its
lighler weight
makes
it
easier
to
install
if a
flat
tire
occurs.
The
lig
h t~r
weight
also helps
improve
fu el economy.
If
you have
a flat
tire,
follow the
jacking instructions
in
this
manual
while
keeping
these points
in
mind:
Check inflation
pressure as
soon
as
practical
after
installin
g
the
spare (use
of
a
pocket
type:
high
pressure
inflation
gage is
adv ised)
and adj
ust
to

kPa (60 psi). The tire pressure
should be
checked
at
least monthl
y
and
kept
at
415 kPa
(60 psi)
while the
tire
is
stored.
Continuous
use
at
speeds
over 50
mph (80
km/h) is
not recommended
.
