5. There are three ways to enter a recipient for the message:
• Press Down
• If the recipient is in your Contacts list, start typing the first initial and last name
(no spaces). then press carriage return.
• Manually enter a phone number, email address, or alias. Destination email
addresses are included in the 160 character count.
6. Enter your message.
7. Select Send.

Receiving messages

When your phone is on and in an area of wireless coverage, you will automatically
receive text messages sent to you. You can configure your Treo™ 650 smartphone to
automatically notify you when new text messages arrive, using a ringtone and
vibration or simply an onscreen alert.
From the New Message alert:
• To view your message(s), select Go To.
• To dismiss the alert, select Clear. The message goes straight to the Inbox.
• To be reminded of the new message again in 5 minutes, select Snooze.
. and choose from the recently used list, or choose Lookup.
