    Do not look directly into the projection lens when the projector • is turned on. The bright light may harm your eyes. Do not block the grills on the projector. Do not place the projec- • tor on cloth table coverings, as they may get sucked up to the vents.

    CAUTION: Turn off the computer, monitor and projector whenever you connect or disconnect cables. NOTE: The LP755 is optimized for use with newer CableWizards (2 and 3). If you have a CableWizard 1 from older models of InFocus projectors, we do not recommend using it as image quality is reduced.

    Preparing to Connect Your Equipment to the Projector Now you’re ready to connect your equipment. Computers are either connected to the CableWizard or directly to the projector via the VESA connector. Video players and other equipment, such as external speakers, are connected directly to the projector.

    IGURE Connecting the CableWizard to a laptop computer Do you want to play your computer’s audio on the projector? 1 Plug either end of the CableWizard audio cable into the audio connector on your computer. 2 Plug the other end of the audio cable into the on the CableWizard.
  • Page 19 You must have the appropriate USB drivers installed on your computer to use the USB feature. Windows 98 ships with the appropriate drivers. Now you’re ready to power up the projector and your laptop. Skip to “Powering up the Projector and Adjusting the Image” on page 15.

    1 Plug your monitor’s cable into the CableWizard. Do you want to play your computer’s audio on the projector? 1 Unplug the audio cable, if present, from your computer. 2 Plug either end of the CableWizard audio cable into the audio connector on your computer.

    Powering up the Projector and Adjusting the Image 1 Remove the lens cap. 2 Plug the power cord into the side of the projector, then plug it into your electrical outlet. A surge-protected power strip is recommended if power surges are common in your area.

    Turning Off the Projector If you want to turn off the projector for a short period of time, press the button on the remote or keypad. The Standby standby LED on the keypad lights solid green. This blanks the screen for 15 minutes, but keeps the projector running.

    The range for optimum operation is about 25 feet. If you point the remote at the projection screen, the distance to the screen and back to the projector must be less than or equal to 25 feet. For best results, point the remote directly at the front or the rear of the projector.

    Using the On-Screen Menus The projector has six drop-down menus that allow you to make image adjustments and change a variety of settings. Most of these adjustments aren’t available directly from the keypad or remote. To open the on-screen menus, press the remote or keypad.

    Display Menu Brightness Adjusting the brightness changes the intensity of the image. Press the left mouse button to darken the image. • Press the right mouse button to lighten the image. • Contrast The contrast controls the degree of difference between the lightest and darkest parts of the picture.
  • Page 37 Blank Screen Blank Screen determines what color is displayed when there is no active source and when the projector is in standby. Click either mouse button to toggle between the two options. Reset All Click either mouse button to reset all the options (except Lan- guage, Video Standard, Ceiling and Rear Projection, and Standby Time) in all the menus to their original settings.

    NOTE: Changing the volume from the menu is the same as changing it using the keypad or remote. NOTE: The Treble and Bass set- tings apply only to the projector’s internal speaker. External speakers typically have their own tone con- trols.

  • Page 41 It is not available for video sources. Manual Tracking The projector adjusts tracking automatically to match the video signal from your computer. However, if the display shows evenly spaced, fuzzy, vertical lines or if the projected image is too wide or too narrow for the screen, try turning on again.

    This option lets you select how long the lamp stays on and the blank screen is displayed when the projector enters standby mode before the projector turns off. Select among 1, 5, 10, and 15 minutes and 1 and 2 hours by clicking either mouse button and cycling through the options.
  • Page 43 LP755, then set the monitor resolution and refresh rate accordingly. You need to set the Plug and Play setting to Off for the LP755 to display prop- erly on some older computers. The Plug and Play setting does not affect video images.
  • Page 44 Display Startup Screen This setting toggles between On and Off. When this feature is On, the InFocus startup screen appears when the projector starts up and remains until an active source is detected. The startup screen contains information on contacting InFocus. Click either mouse button to turn this feature off and display a plain black or blue screen instead of the startup screen.

    Cleaning the Fan Intake Filter The fan intake filter on the bottom of the projector catches dust and particles in the air. If the filter becomes clogged, the projector does not cool properly and may malfunction. To prevent this, clean the filter after every 100 hours of use.

    For optimum results, the lamp should be replaced at this time. You can order new lamp modules from your InFocus dealer. See “Accessories” on page 51 for information. Follow these steps to replace the projection lamp: 1 Turn off the projector and unplug the power cord.
  • Page 52 9 Tighten the screws on the outside of the module. 10 Reposition the lamp door. 11 Tighten the lamp door screw. 12 Plug in the power cord and turn the projector back on. The lamp monitor light and lamp hour counter in the Status menu are automatically reset.

    5 Slide the battery cover back on the remote. Using the Security Lock The projector has a security connector for use with a PC Guardian Cable Lock System (Figure 31). Refer to the information that came with the lock for instructions on how to use it to secure the projector.

    2 Verify that all power is switched on. 3 Verify that the projector is not in standby (the Standby LED on the keypad is lit when the projector is in standby). 4 If the projector still doesn’t display an image, restart the com- puter.

    AC electrical outlet. Make sure that the power cord is also properly connected to the projector and the green Power LED is lit. If the projector is plugged into a power strip, make sure the • power strip is turned on.
