SECTION 14: Error Messages Explained

When an error develops, the ERROR lamp on the control panel lights up and the LCD shows an error
message.

The side door is open.

Corrective Action
Shut the side door.
Load an ink ribbon cartridge by referring to SECTION
15: Loading Ribbons.
Load a new or usable ink ribbon. For installation details,
refer to SECTION 15: Loading Ribbons
*Also follow Note 2-1) in this section.
Open the side door and rotate the lower take-up shaft
clockwise to recover from jam. If the take-up shaft does
not rotate, try rotating the upper supply shaft a bit
counterclockwise then rotating the take-up shaft
clockwise.
Load a transfer ribbon cartridge by referring to
SECTION 15: Loading Ribbons.
a. Change the transfer ribbon by referring to SECTION
15: Loading Ribbons or load a usable transfer
ribbon.
*Also follow Note 2-1), 2-2), and 2-3) in this section.
b. Check the transfer ribbon.
*Follow Note 2-4) in this section.
*If the above action does not improve the situation,
the error may result from dirt on the platen roller.
For details, see SECTION 19: Maintenance.
a. Open the side door and rotate the right-hand take-up
shaft counterclockwise. If the take-up shaft does not
rotate, try rotating the left-hand supply shaft a bit
clockwise
then
rotating
counterclockwise.
b. Check the transfer ribbon.
*Follow Note 2-4) in this section.
*If the above action does not improve the situation,
the error may result from dirt on the platen roller.
For details, see SECTION 19: Maintenance.
c. Wind the ribbon forward till a new printable area
starts to appear. Then, load the ribbon back into the
cartridge and the ribbon-installed cartridge into the
unit.
a. You can identify the type of ribbon by checking its
shaft color.
- PHOTO ink/transfer ribbon shaft is white.
- COLOR ink/transfer ribbon shaft is black.
Install ink and transfer ribbons that have the same
shaft color.
b. * Follow Note 3-1) in this section.
Put the disc adapter back to its original place. Be sure
to set the slide switch on the front of the tray drawer to
the LOCK position
*Follow Note 3-2) in this section.
You need to reset the printer. To do this, open the side
door, and then close it again.
Write down the number displayed on the LCD and
contact us for support. (See SECTION 23: Contact
Information.)
