MAINTENANCE
& STORAGE
Maintaining your generator
Warning! Turn the generator off before performing any maintenance.
Engine Oil Replacement
Engine oil should be replaced after the first 20 hours of operation or the first month of use,
it should be replaced every 100 hours or 3 months after. If the engine oil is not replaced
regularly as mentioned, you risk piston seizure, piston ring sticking and accelerated wear
of the cylinder liner, bearing and other moving components. It is recommended to change
oil while engine is still warm after being turned off. To replace engine oil;
1) Loosen the oil gauge dipstick (A) Fig.10.
2) Place an oil pan under the cabinet, line up oil pan directly under the drain hex. bolt (B),
remove drain hex. bolt (B) and drain oil. The oil will drain through a slanted opening in the
cabinet base.
3) Once all the oil has completely drained, it is recommended to clean the inside of the
cabinet where the oil drained out, then reposition and retighten the drain hex. bolt (B).
Recommended Engine Oil
Figure 10
It is recommended to use SAE 10W30 4-stroke engine oil. For cold weather (below -15ºC)
use SAE 5W30.
4) Fill with clean engine oil through the oil gauge dipstick hole, check oil level using the oil gauge dipstick. If the oil level is halfway up the
dipstick or below, refill with oil through the dipstick hole until the oil level reaches 3/4 up the dipstick. Oil capacity: 1.65 liters maximum.
Air Cleaner Filter Maintenance
The air cleaner filter should be checked after prolonged use or storage. The air cleaner
filter must be changed aproximately every 6 months or when the output of the engine
decreases or the color of exhaust is abnormal. The following steps cover the cleaning or
replacement of the pre-filter and air cleaner filter;
1) Remove the right side access panel by removing the 4 hex. bolts and washers.
2) Now that you have access to the air cleaner assembly, undo the wing nut (A) Fig.11,
remove washer (B).
3) To remove the air cleaner filter cover (C), it is necessary to remove to cover and the air
cleaner filters (D & E) behind it at the same time due to space restrictions.
4) Clean the pre-filter (D) and the air filter (E) with compressed air to dislodge dust and
particles. Do not wash with detergent. Place the air filter up towards a bright light, if you
can not see any light coming through the filter, it is time to replace it.
5) Replace if necessary and reposition air filter and air cleaner filter cover and secure.

12V Sealed Maintenance-Free Rechargeable Battery
Important Note: Before connecting or disconnecting any electrical wires to or from the battery, it is very important to make sure the generator
engine switch is off and that there are no connected loads.
The electric start depends on the battery charge to start the generator, to remove the battery from the battery tray, undo both wing nuts from both
fixing rods which fasten the top mounted battery fix plate, remove fix plate, undo electrical wires (negative first) and remove battery. To install
battery, place battery into battery tray. Hook the fixing rods to both sides of the battery tray, insert fixing rods through the fix plate, place fix plate
against the front edge of the battery and fasten it into place by tightening the two wing nuts.
To connect, follow these steps;
1) Connect the RED wire to the positive (+) terminal of the battery.
2) Connect the BLACK ground wire (which is bolted to the engine) to the negative (-) terminal of the battery.
Generator Storage
If you plan on storing your generator for an extended period of time, cover and store the generator in a clean, dry and level place. Do not expose
the generator to extreme high or low temperatures.
