Clock
The clock is stopped or incorrect.
, Check the time zone setting (page 39).
, If your area is correctly selected and yet the clock
is wrong, it is not a malfunction. For details, see
page 18.
, The clock stopped due to a power failure. Wait
for the recorder to adjust itself.
Display
The clock does not appear in the front panel
display.
, "FP Display" in "Settings" setup is set to "Off"
(page 39).
, The "Power Save" in "Settings" setup is set to
"On," and the recorder is in standby (page 39).

Remote control

The remote does not function.
, Batteries are weak.
, The remote is too far from the recorder.
, The remote's manufacturer code returned to the
default setting when you replaced the batteries.
Reset the code (page 15).
, Turn on the recorder.
, The remote is not pointed at the remote sensor on
the recorder.
, Different command modes are set for the
recorder and remote. Set the same command
mode (page 16). The default command mode
setting for this recorder and the supplied remote
is HDD1.
Other Sony equipment responds to the remote.
, The same command mode is set for both the
equipment and recorder. Set a different
command mode for the recorder (page 16).
Others
The recorder does not operate properly.
, Restart the recorder. Press down
recorder for more than ten seconds until
"POWER OFF" appears in the front panel
display.
, When static electricity, etc., causes the recorder
to operate abnormally, turn off the recorder and
wait until the clock appears in the front panel
display. Then, unplug the recorder and after
leaving it off for a while, plug it in again.
The Parental Lock does not work.
, Check the Parental Lock options settings
(page 40).
Mechanical sound is heard when the recorder
is off.
, While the recorder is updating the clock
information, operational noises (such as the
internal fan) may be heard, even when the power
is off. This is not a malfunction.
