Gaining Access To The Valves —
Gain access to the valves as follows:
NOTE:
Clean the cylinder head cover before
removing it.
1. Remove the cylinder head cover
(see Figure 34).

4. Select a method for adjusting the
valve lash. See Figure 36 for
the valve layout on both four-
and six-cylinder engines. There
are two acceptable methods for
adjusting valve lash:
• In order, according to the
timing sequence used for fuel
injection ("Method One")
• By type of valve, depending on
crankshaft position ("Method
Two")
