BASIC FEATURES

FLEXIZONE AF/AE
Using FlexiZone AF/AE, you can freely move the
AF point around the frame. Now you can easily
focus on off-center subjects without reframing
the shot. When spot metering is selected, you
can choose to measure exposure at the chosen
AF point or at the center of the frame. This option
gives you maximum flexibility, enabling you to
handle difficult lighting situations like a pro.
HYBRID AF SYSTEM*
This advanced Canon AF system combines the
best of two different autofocusing methods. An
external metering (triangulation) method is
used to perform initial general focusing. This is
immediately followed by the more traditional
TTL (contrast detection) method to fine-adjust
the focusing. This yields both speed and precision
of autofocusing that cannot be achieved with
either method alone.
INTELLIGENT ORIENTATION
SENSOR
By automatically sensing whether the picture
is being taken horizontally or vertically, PowerShot
cameras are able to avoid the typical errors that
occur in auto focus, auto exposure, and auto
white balance with less sophisticated cameras.
Moreover, pictures are properly oriented during
playback, whether on the camera's screen or a
computer monitor.

Vertical
WHITE BALANCE
Canon iSAPS technology ensures fast, accurate
automatic white balance compensation.
PowerShot cameras also let you select from preset
modes covering common lighting conditions,
for example, daylight, cloudy, tungsten, or
fluorescent. You can even perform a manual
white balance using a white reference target,
storing the measurement as a custom setting
for later recall.

ISO SETTING
Canon PowerShot cameras give you a choice
of ISO equivalent settings. As with film, the
lowest ISO setting possible for the shooting
conditions will yield the best image quality.
In most shooting modes, the camera will
automatically select the best ISO setting to
suit the conditions. However, in manual and
advanced shooting modes, you can set the
ISO to 50, 100, 200, or 400.
NOISE REDUCTION
Canon's exclusive
Imaging Processor
performs advanced, highly precise data
computations that enhance resolution without
increasing noise, shattering the commonly held
notion that noise in a digital camera can only
be reduced at the expense of resolution. This
new anti-noise/ high-resolution processing
technology enables PowerShot cameras to
capture images of extraordinary quality, easily
surpassing the performance of other digital
cameras relying on general-purpose image
processing IC's.

BASIC FEATURES
RAW MODE CAPABILITY *
The exclusive
Imaging Processor also
makes possible a RAW mode recording option.
While the multiple JPEG modes maximize image
quality and storage efficiency, you now have
the option of saving your photos in the RAW
format when you want to capture at the highest
possible quality with no compression.
METERING OPTIONS
Canon PowerShot cameras give advanced
photographers a choice of light-metering
modes for maximum exposure control:
evaluative metering, center-weighted average
metering, or spot metering. The spot metering
mode provides an exceptional degree of
control, enabling the measurement to be
tied to the AF point or fixed at the center
of the frame. It makes it easier to deal with
challenging lighting conditions or achieve
creative exposure effects.
PHOTO EFFECT MODE
For advanced creative effects, try one of the
Photo Effect Mode settings. Vivid Color yields
vibrant shots with dramatic high-contrast.
Neutral Color produces images of subtle,
elegant tonality. Low Sharpening softens an
image to create a romantic, soft-focus filter
effect. Sepia recreates
the look of vintage
photographs. Black
and White delivers
enhanced clarity –
especially useful
when shooting text.

SAFETY SHIFT*
In Av and Tv modes, a Safety Shift function is
available to eliminate exposure errors: the camera
will automatically change shutter speed or
aperture to work within the ambient brightness
conditions.
FLASH OPTIONS
Multiple modes give you full control over flash-
assisted shooting. You can turn the flash and
auto red-eye reduction on and off in any
combination. You can even choose "first
curtain" or "second curtain" sync. Flash
strength can also be set manually to any of 3
levels. * You can also turn off the pre-flash to
avoid false tripping of external slave flashes.

ADOBE RGB*
Because PowerShot cameras' professional-level
quality produces images that are ideal for use
as originals for printed documents, the camera
offers an expanded Adobe RGB color space set-
ting, the data standard of the printing industry,
in addition to a standard RGB color space setting.
