I Front access bay options
This section explains how to install front access bay options such as an internal hard disk drive
and magneto-optical disk drive. Unlike external devices, front access bay options receive power
from the PC unit, and therefore require no outlet. They also save space.
Notes on installation
G On Windows 98 systems, if you want to disconnect the device from the master connector of
the secondary IDE and connect it to the slave connector, you must change the system settings
beforehand.
G If you want to install an access bay option soon after you purchase the PC, set up Windows,
turn off the PC, and then install the option.
G An internal hard disk drive that supports Ultra DMA/33 or Ultra DMA/66 can be used by
setting Ultra DMA/33 or Ultra DMA/66. DMA of the primary IDE is set to ON by default.
When installing a hard disk drive or magneto-optical disk drive that does not support Ultra
DMA/33 or Ultra DMA/66, be sure to set DMA to OFF. If it is used with DMA set to ON, the
drive may not work properly and may destroy data.
Refer to the manual for the hard disk drive or magneto-optical disk drive to check whether it
supports Ultra DMA/33 or Ultra DMA/66.
G The secondary IDE does not support Ultra DMA/66. Use the secondary IDE in the Ultra DMA/
33 or PIO mode.
G This PC does not support an additional floppy disk drive.
