Troubleshooting
Consult the table below; it suggests solutions to specific problems.
You want to restore the TV's
factory settings
A red light keeps flashing on the
TV for more than a few seconds
TV makes a noise when turned on
Screen is not lit and there is no
sound
• Your TV may need service.
• This is a normal function of your TV.
• Power cord may not be plugged in.
• Remote control batteries may not be inserted correctly.
• TV/VIDEO setting may be incorrect.
• Current program may exceed PARENTAL
CONTROL settings.
• First, turn the TV on. Then while pressing the RESET
button on the remote control, press the POWER button
on the TV. The TV will turn itself off and then back on.
When the TV turns on again, all settings will be reset, and
the initial setup screen will appear.
• Call your local Sony service center.
• Check your power cord.
• Re-insert the batteries in your remote control.
• Press TV/VIDEO until you receive a channel.
• Check your PARENTAL CONTROL settings, (page 28).
Poor or no picture (screen lit), • VIDEO menu settings may not be adjusted correctly. ' • Readjust your VIDEO menu settings, (page 19).
good sound • Antenna/cable connections may be faulty. • Check your VIDEO LABEL settings, (page 22).
• VIDEO LABEL inputs may be set to WEB. (This
label darkens the screen for ideal WebTV viewing)
Good picture, no sound • Sound may be set to MUTING. • Press MUTING.
• Your TV may be set to SAP. • Check the MTS setting in the AUDIO menu, (page 20).
• SPEAKER may not be set correctly. • Check your SPEAKER settings, (page 20).
No color • Color settings may not be adjusted correctly. • Adjust the COLOR settings in the VIDEO menu, (page 19).
Only snow and noise appear on • CABLE may not be set correctly in the CHANNEL • Ensure that you have selected the correct CABLE mode in
the screen SET UP menu. the CHANNEL SET UP menu, (page 23).
