Troubleshooting

When any of the following symptoms have occurred during operation, check the items described below, and take
the remedial action suggested. If the problem persists, set the power switch to OFF, disconnect the power cord,
and consult your dealer.

Is an unrecorded part of the tape being
played back?
Is the tracking off?
Was the tape recorded using the unit (AG-
DTL1)?
Is the tape being used an S-VHS tape?
Were cameras No.13 to No.16 selected by
the CAMERA button during the still-picture
playback of a tape with frames recorded
using cameras No.13 to No.16?
Are signals from cameras being input?
Has CAMERA been selected as the VIDEO
OUT item setting on the setting menu P2
REC LOSS INDICATOR screen?
Has VIDEO OUT been selected as the
MODE item setting on the setting menu P7
EXT SWITCHER screen?
Is a tape with frames recorded using
cameras No.13 to No.16 being played back?
Is the counter display in the camera number
display mode?

Remedial action
Play back a recorded part of the tape.
Set TIME MODE to 3H, and keep pressing the (+) or (–)
tracking button until the number of the tracking
information reaches its maximum.
Tapes which were not recorded using the unit (AG-
DTL1) cannot be played back.
Only S-VHS tapes can be used with this unit.
It is not possible for VHS tapes to be used.
If the operation described on the left is performed, the
monitor screen will turn blue.
This is not a malfunction.
Connect the cameras which have been set to the
CAMERA IN connectors properly.
When BLUE has been selected as the VIDEO OUT item
setting, the monitor screen will turn blue at all times
except in the recording mode.
Signals from the external switcher will be input when
EXT SW IN has been selected as the MODE item
setting. The monitor screen will turn blue while the
external switcher is outputting the blue background
signal.
If the operation described on the left is performed, the
monitor screen will not be switched over to the 4-in-1
picture. This is not a malfunction.
To switch the monitor screen over to the 4-in-1 picture,
set the counter display to the camera number display
mode, and press the RESET button.
In all modes except playback, the monitor screen will not
be switched over to the 4-in-1 picture. This is not a
malfunction.
Signals from the external switcher will not be input when
VIDEO OUT has been selected as the MODE item
setting.
The cameras are not switched over automatically during
playback. To switch over the cameras during playback,
press the [4] or [3] CAMERA button. This is not a
malfunction.
To automatically switch over the cameras during
recording, press the [4] and [3] CAMERA buttons at
the same time.
Use the external switcher to switch over the cameras
when EXT SW IN has been selected as the MODE item
setting.
Set the PROGRAM switch to OFF to release the unit's
operation mode from recording or pause.
Then set the PROGRAM switch back to MENU, and
proceed with menu operation.
Menu operations cannot be performed when the LOCK
switch is at ALL or REC.
Menu operations cannot be performed during recording
when ON has been selected as the MODE item setting.
