Operating Your TV
Watching TV
Now that you've completed the setup, you're ready to watch TV. Here are some things to be aware of:
• To tune to a channel, enter the channel number and press OK or wait a few seconds for the channel to tune. Digital channels can have
both primary channels (like the analog channel number) and subchannels, such as channel 6 as the primary channel number and 1 as
the subchannel number. See Example 1 below. To tune to a digital channel with a subchannel, enter the primary channel number, then
press the right arrow button. Enter the subchannel number and press OK.
• If you have both analog and digital cable channels these will be put into the same channel list. As you change channels, a small
channel banner appears which shows you the channel and sometimes the program you're viewing. For a more detailed channel banner,
press the INFO button. See Example 1 below. Go to the beginning of Chapter 3 of the User's Guide to learn more about analog and
digital channels.
• To view channels you're receiving off-air, press the ANT•CAB button on your remote to tune to the Antenna Input. Press the ANT•CAB
button again to switch back to the Cable Input. See Example 2 below.
• Depending upon the type of signals you have connected to your HDTV, you might notice the channels change slower than you're used
to. This is perfectly normal. Digital channels sometimes take longer to tune.
• Analog channels are sent in a 4:3 format, which cannot fi ll a 16:9 screen like your TV. Most digital channels are sent in a 16:9 format
which do fi ll your screen, but not always. It depends on how the station is formatting the video. Press the FORMAT button to see the
different formats available that may eliminate the black bars. To return to the 4:3 format (Normal), keep pressing the FORMAT button
until the bars re-appear.
Viewing Devices
If you've connected devices to your TV and you want to view the device:
1. Turn on the TV and the device you want to view.
2. Press the TV button on the remote control.
3. Press the INPUT button on the remote control to scroll through the Video Input Channels until you see the Input corresponding with
the jack you have the device connected to. For example, if you have a DVD player connected to Input 2, look for Input 2 to appear in
the channel banner. See Example 2 below.

Using the Universal Remote
Your remote control is universal, which means it can operate many different kinds and brands of devices. You can program the DVD
button, for example, to operate your DVD player. Go to Chapter 2 of the User's Guide for details on programming the remote. Once you've
done that, you can also set up Auto Tuning for the device. If your DVD player is connected to the Input 2 jacks, when you've set up Auto
Tuning, pressing the DVD button will automatically tune to Input 2. Go to the end of Chapter 3 of the User's Guide for more information
on setting up Auto Tuning.
