    Water softener To avoid scale deposits on the dishes and in the dish- washer, the dishes must be washed with soft water, i.e. water with a low lime content. The dishwasher therefore has a built-in water softener, in which tap water with a hardness of 4°d (German degree) and harder is softened with the aid of special salt.
