keep the coffee at the ideal temperature.
Important: Removing the carafe before all the
coffee is made does not interrupt production of
the coffee, but merely blocks flow into the jug.
If you want to pour out a little coffee immedi-
ately, you are recommended to do so as rapid-
ly as possible in order to avoid the coffee over-
flowing.
SETTING THE ON AND OFF TIMES (PROG/SHUT
OFF BUTTON)
Check that the current time is set correctly.
To set the start time:
• Press and hold for about 2 seconds the
"PROG/SHUT OFF" button; the display shows
the message "12:00" flashing, and the light
(10) flashes;
• Press the "HR" and "MIN" buttons until reach-
ing the desired start time;
• Press the "PROG/SHUT OFF" button again to
confirm the selection or wait about 5 seconds
until the display stops flashing.
Once the start time has been set, the display shows
the stop time, that is, the message 2:00, which rep-
resents the time between when the appliance is
switched on and off automatically. To increase this
time, press the "HR/+" button, and to decrease it
press the "MIN/-" button; the time can be modi-
fied in thirty minute intervals, from a minimum of 2
hours to a maximum of 12 hours. Finally, press the
"PROG/SHUT OFF" button again to confirm the
settings.
Note Before starting to percolate the coffee, the
machine is preheated automatically for around 5
minutes; consequently, at least 5 minutes must
elapse form the set start time to when percolation
starts.
HOW TO CHOOSE THE FLAVOR OF THE
DRIP COFFEE
With the flavor selector, the flavor of the drip cof-
fee can be selected according to personal taste. By
turning the flavor selector knob (Fig. 11), the cof-
fee maker can be set for coffee strong (STRONG
position) or light (LIGHT position).
The flavor selector changes the strength of the cof-
fee, while the actual taste remains the same.
WARNING: The first time coffee is prepared, all

machine must be washed as follows:
Make at least two carafes of coffee without using
ground coffee (following the instructions in the
paragraph How to prepare the drip coffee).

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

Before performing any cleaning or maintenance
operations, turn the machine off, unplug it from the
power outlet and allow it to cool down.
1. When cleaning the coffee maker, do not use
solvents or abrasive detergents. A soft, damp
cloth is sufficient.
2. Never immerse the coffee maker in water: it is
an electrical appliance.
CLEANING THE FLAVOR SAVOR CHANNEL
To clean the flavor savor channel more efficiently,
it can be removed from the filter holder cone by
sliding it upwards (Fig. 13). To replace, simply
slide in from above.
DESCALING
If the water in your local area is hard, lime scale
will form over time. These deposits may affect the
correct operation of the appliance.
The coffee maker must be descaled every 40
cycles. The descaling process may be performed
using
special
commercially-available
removers for drip coffee makers. Alternatively,
white wine vinegar can be used as follows:
1. Remove the chlorine filter.
2. Pour 2 cups of white wine vinegar and 3 cups
of water into the tank. Place the tank in the cof-
fee maker;
3. Place the carafe on the warming plate, do not
put any ground coffee in the filter holder;
4. Press the drip coffee ON/OFF button, perco-
late the equivalent of one cup and then switch
off the appliance;
5. Leave the vinegar to act for one hour;
6. Switch the coffee maker back on and percolate
the rest of the solution;
7. To rinse the machine, operate it with water and
without ground coffee at least 3 times (3 com-
plete tanks of water).
