W AR N IN G : B efore operating w a te r h eater, be sure tank is filled w ith
w ater. See "S afety W arnings".
A. T his appliance does not have a p ilot. It is equipped w ith an ignition device
which autom atically lights the burner. D o not try to light the burner by hand.
B . B E FO R E LIG H T IN G sm ell all around the appliance area for gas. Be sure to
sm ell next to the floor because som e gas is heavier than air and will settle on the
floor.
W H AT T O D O IF Y O U SM E LL G A S
D o not try to light any appliance.
D o not touch any electric switch.
D o not use any phone in your building.
Im m ediately call your gas sup plier from a neighbor's phone. Follow the gas
supplier's instructions.
If you cannot reach your gas supplier, call the fire departm ent.
C . T his is an autom atic gas valve, no adjustm ents are ne ce ss ary. D o not
attem pt to repair the gas valve. This m ay result in a fire or explosion.
D . D o not use this appliance if any part has been under water. Im m ediately call
a qualified service technician to inspect the appliance and to replace any part of
the control system and any gas control which has been under water.
E . B efore operating water heater, check the location of the vent to m ak e sure it
will not be blocked by the opening of any door on the trailer. If it can be blocked,
do not operate the water heater with the door open.
O P E R ATIN G IN S TR U C TIO N S
1. S T O P ! R ead the safety inform ation provided.
2. T urn off all electric power to the appliance.
3. T urn "O FF" gas supply.
4. W ait five m inutes for gas to clear the area. If you sm ell gas then S TO P !
Follow instructions in item B of the safety inform ation. If you don't sm ell gas, go
to next step.
5. T urn "O N " gas supply.
6. T urn on electrical power to the appliance.
7. T urn switc h to "O N " position. If the burner does not light, the system will
autom atically attem pt two m ore tries for ignition before lock -out. N O T E : E ach
ignition cycle will have a 15 second purge before spark cycle if system is a three
try system .
8. If loc k out occurs before m ain burner lights, turn switch to "O FF", wait fiv e
seconds and turn switch to "O N " position. T his will restart the ignition cycle. The
first start-up of the heater m ay require several ignition cycles before all air is
purged from the gas lines.
If the burner will not com e on, the following ite m s should be checked before
calling a service person.
1. S witch turned off.
2. G as supply to heater is em pty or turned off.
3. R eset button on E C O is tripped.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
FOR UNITS WITH ELECTRIC ELEMENT
E lectric water heaters are designed to operate with a m inim um am ount of service
problem s; however, proper operation and care is essential.
B y far the m ost com m on trouble with electric water heaters results from
energizing the water heater before it is filled with water. Even brief operation of
the electric elem ent without water in the tank will burn-out the electric heating
elem ent.
T o energize the electric heating elem ent, turn the switch to "on". T he switch is
located behind the water heater d oo r in the lower left corner of the control
housing. The water tem perature will be regulated by the therm ostat.
TO TU R N O FF W ATE R H E ATE R
1. T urn switch to "O FF" position.
2. T urn off electrical power to the appliance.
3. T urn off gas supply.
4. If vehicle is to be stored o r h e a te r is going to be turned off while subject to
freezing tem perature, drain water heater. (S ee "D raining and Storage
Instructions.")
