The following sections describe the ports, buttons, and indicator LEDs for HP ProCurve 2600-series
switches.
2.6.2.1 Power and Fault LEDs
The HP ProCurve Series 2600 switches have Power and Fault LEDs. When the switch is receiving
power, the Power LED light is green. The green LED is off when the switch is off. When the
switch is on, the orange Fault LED is off, indicating there are no fault conditions on the switch.
If the orange Fault LED is blinking a fault has occurred on the switch, such as with one of the
switch ports, the fan, or the EPS. The Status LED for the component with the fault will blink
simultaneously. The Fault LED stays on briefly after the switch is powered on or reset at the
beginning of self-test. If the Fault LED is on for a prolonged time, the switch has encountered a
fatal hardware failure, or has failed its self-test.

2.6.2.2 Network Ports

The HP ProCurve Series 2600 switches have either 48 or 24 dual-speed ports that are spread
across the front panel. To the right is a pair of fixed triple-speed copper gigabit ports, and below
these are two mini-GBIC slots that accept fiber-optic cables. These are referred to as
dual-personality ports because you can use either the copper port or the corresponding fiber-optic
port. Only two can be in action at any one time. By default, the RJ-45 connectors are enabled. If
a mini-GBIC is installed in a slot, it is enabled and the associated RJ-45 connector is disabled. If
the mini-GBIC is removed, the associated RJ-45 port is automatically re-enabled.
You use the top row of ports on the HP ProCurve 2650 or 2626 switches for iLO connections.
You use the bottom row of ports for standard network connections, and you use the gigabit ports
to link HP ProCurve switches.
